2015 Races. Will you be there?

Thanks to the generosity and amazing support of Be Non Human, I am confirmed to run the North Face Challenge WI - 50 Miler and RNR Vegas Marathon.
I am so humbled by this and can't thank them enough for these opportunities.  I am truly blessed, thank you!!!

I can't help but get giddy when I look at my list. And I've been looking at it for awhile...
I'm so thrilled to attack new challenges this year!  I made a last-minute decision last night to sign up for a duathlon for later this month -- what a great start to the racing season, a new milestone!!
This is not set in stone as I'm sure I may add on (yes, I'm already counting on it).

All the dates in black indicate that I haven't signed up just yet.... my bank account insists I give it a break :)

I even found a duathlon for my girls to participate it! I cannot wait to start training with them.

"You should write a book!" is often the response I get when I share some details of my past. Whether they're fascinated by how I was moved around most of my life or finding out about some of the traumas I've gone through, it usually ends with them encouraging me to write a book. Go Hammer Time!

Indoor marathon. 95 laps around a track. No personal music allowed. Sounds enticing, doesn't it? I ran this last year with friends and said I'll never do it again. It's not the track so much as I'd done two 12 hour races on a high school track before - and overnight, no less. But most, if not all, ultra runners will agree that marathons have a different atmosphere than ultras. That's another post in itself! And I hate being subjected to other people's music (they play music from runners' requests). But after so many months of freezing temps, snow and ice keeping me from decent long runs here in Wisconsin, I gave in. My desire to get in a long run without slipping, twisting my already-fragile ankle or losing feeling in my fingers due to the extreme cold took over. Dig deep and make it hurt.

This is not exactly a motivational post. Or even close. But it's an honest "this race sucked major butt" post. We've all had them so pull up a chair with your drink of choice and commiserate with me. The runners, volunteers and police officers at this race are friendly and supportive. The energy from the volunteers are incredible - and I've run it through a freak blizzard and sub-zero temps. They are simply the best. It's a well-organized race and I appreciate all the work that goes into making this a great event. No complaints there. The course is a mostly paved trail, and it's an out-and-back, which would deter me from running it in the first place, but I've run it the past two years and have placed 3rd in my division each time so I wanted to see if I could go for a 3rd podium finish.
